Ray & Shalanda Jackson!

  S6300144 S6300110 S6300117

Well, I intended to do this yesterday, but by the time I got home, I was exhausted! Yesterday, Saturday, April 19th, was the wedding of Captain Ray Jackson! He married Shalanda Warner, and everything was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! I can't believe that my cousin is married! Boy, I tell you, time really flies! It seems like yesterday, when Ray was at the Lakewood Corps, in TROUBLE!!! LOL!!! I will not go into details, because if you know Ray, you know he was BAD!!!! Just ask our pastors Majors Jim & Janice Bovender! But...... what a wonderful change in his life has been wrought!!! Since Jesus came into his heart!!! I think the song goes like that! :)

Now, he has a BEAUTIFUL wife and an ADORABLE son!!! Congratulations to my friend and family!!!! I love you guys alot, and wish you years of happiness!!!! I am only going to post a few pictures for everyone to see, because I am sure that they would like to post their own!

PRAYER REQUESTED!!!

In the last two weeks, Michael and I have received a lot of sad news. Last Monday, my mom had a doctor's appointment. During the appointment, she had an EKG done, and the doctor informed her that she had an heart attack. My mom had no idea that she had an heart attack, but she can remember when she felt some very bad pains in her chest, neck and arms. She informed the doctor that she thought that it was just acid reflux. I am very concerned, because her mom (my grandmother) experienced this very same thing. She had heart attacks at home on several occasions  and was not aware that she was having them, and then when we finally took her to the hospital she died the very same day! So, I am asking for your prayers for my mom!

This same day, we received a call from Michael's mom, informing us that Michael's 18 year old cousin was killed. His name is Christopher Hunt. Chris was a very nice young man. He had been living in Texas with his father since he was 13 years old, because he was getting into trouble with some of the neighborhood kids in Albany, GA;(where he is originally from) so his mom sent him to Texas to live with his father who was stationed there with the Army. Chris graduated with honors from High School last year.

Chris and his friend worked together, so Chris would take him to work, because the friend did not have a car. On this particular morning, 2 other teenagers, were after the friend, and Chris was not aware of this. So, as they were driving to work, the guys starting shooting at Chris' car. Well, one of the bullets hit Chris in the back of his head, and killed him. The friend walked away without any injuries. You can imagine what the family is going through right now. The guys were caught and are being charged with 1st degree murder. The 2 guys who were caught were only 16 and 17 years old. Can you imagine being 16 and 17, and going to jail, not juvenile, but jail, and never getting out?

We are leaving today to travel to Albany to be with our family. The funeral is Saturday, and as you can imagine Chris' mom is not handling this well. Chris also has 2 sisters, Shamonica - 16  and Shantesia -13, who are not doing well either. I solicit your prayers for the Hunt Family!

Thanks!

Class Update!

As many of you may know, I just started a new job in December at Minnie Howell "Premier Academy." I absolutely LOVE this job. It is very challenging and very professional, which is a huge step up from my last job. My previous job had me a little too complacent. I had been there for almost 5 years, and had gotten to the point of not even wanting to go to work. I knew then, that it was time for me to start sending out my resume. During this time, I decided to go to school, and I love it. Which brings me to this point. Last semester, I was on point with going to school fulltime and working fulltime. This semester, I have realized that I can not do both. I really over did it with the scheduling of my classes. I realized it after it was too late to add and drop classes. I was taking too many classes and my schedule just could not tolerate it. So after much prayer, I decided to withdraw from ALL of my classes.  I am a little sad that it had to happen this way, but I would rather withdraw, receive half of the money for the classes back, and start off on the right track next semester, than to fail, still have to pay for the classes and mess up my GPA. About a week and a half ago, my boss came to me and asked if I would be interested in enrolling in a degree program called CDA (Child Development Association), many of you might know what this is, for those of you who have no clue, it is a degree program, where you have to have 120 credit hours, and when you complete it, it allows you to work with children ranging from infants to 5 years old. Well, this is perfect, because I would receive a scholarship, and I would attend class every Saturday from 9am until 3 pm. The best part about this, is that I would complete this just in time to start school in the Fall. God will defintely make a way! This would work for me, because it definitely works with my schedule!  Well, I just thought I would update, and let everyone know what was going on with me. I am getting ready for Church! Hope everyone has a Fantastic Day of Worship!

I KNOW!!!

Well, it has been 5 months since my last post, and I could come up with all kinds of excuses as to why I have not posted! I will spare you. But, I have been extremely busy. So, since it has been 5 months, let me update you on some things! Well, I made it through the first semester of College! I don't know if I thought I was Superwoman or what, but I was working fulltime and going to School fulltime. I was taking 5 classes a week, which consisted of Algebra, English, Personal Orientation, Political Science & Physical Education! Well, when I started these classes, I thought my biggest problems would come with the Algebra and English classes, but I made an A in Algebra, and a B in English!! My biggest problem was Physical Education. I was thinking about it being more of a lecture class, because that's what I was told by my Academic Advisor. Well, let's just say, it was NOT!!! It was actually physical. I am not good with things that require physical fitness. So here is what my teacher said during the first week of class!

Teacher: We are going to do a lot of things in this class.

Me (thinking): Like what? (nervous)

Teacher: Soccer!

Me (thinking): WHAT! Ok, either you want me to run or kick the ball, I can not do both at the same time.

Teacher: We are also going to do hills.

Me (thinking): Hills????? What are we going to do with these hills.

Teacher: You are going to walk up and down - three times, while I stand at the bottom of the hill and time you.

Me: (thinking): Hope you got all day!

*Side note: No exaggeration: If anyone has had to come to Camp Grandview, these hills that my teacher are talking about are as long, as as steep as the road leading to Camp!

Teacher: We will also play volleyball!

Me (thinking): Ok, I like volleyball, ask any of my friends about my volleyball skills!

*Side note: Did we play volleyball? NOPE! Did we do hills! YES- two or three times, and I felt like I was about to past out, trust me, I always want a snack, but on the days we did hills, I did not eat a snack for a couple of days after! Did we play soccer? They rest of the class did, but not I! I am serious, I can not run AND kick a ball! Running is enough!

So, I just knew my grade was going to be failing, but I received an A! Yep, you heard me, an A, probably for effort, but I don't care if it was for Apathy! I still made an A! :)

Well, when the semester was over, my GPA was a 3.3!

Now, I am in a brand new semester, still working fulltime and going to School fulltime. I am sure I will have some more stories to share later. Until the next post ~

I hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

CLASSES!

Ok, so I told everyone that I would try and update every week. So far, I am sticking to my promise! Well, I am sitting here at the College library, researching some things on the internet for my Political Science class. All I have to say is pray for me! I am NOT a morning person, God is definitely on my side when it comes to getting up for work Monday-Friday. But, when it comes to getting up for a 8am class on Saturday, that is a different story! So, I am sitting in class trying to focus, and I am doing pretty well, until I start thinking about a SNACK! Yes, you heard me correct a SNACK it's 9 o'clock in the morning, and I am thinking about a snack! Then my professor tells the class that we have a presentation on some subject, really don't feel like looking at my notes to tell you what the presentation is suppose to be about, because of course I can't remember because as I was suppose to be in tuned to what my professor was saying, I was thinking about a SNACK!!! Anyway, the professor tells us to be creative and role play! So automatically I am OVERLY excited, because she didn't know, but she will soon find out, that although I might live in Atlanta, I can move to Hollywood at anytime and instantly become and ACTRESS! I have acted with some of the best of them.... Let me just go over the list....

(movie) "What's Love Got To Do With It?"      Starring Neek and Tameka

(movie) "The Color Purple"      Starring Neek and Tameka

(song) "Rolling On The River"  Performed by Neek and Tameka

(song) "HeartBreak Hotel"   Performed by Missy and Tameka

The list can go on and on, but I will save some for later! My professor should have never said to role play! I am going to do well in the presentation aspect of this class! Well, I better go, I am leaving School to go to look for a car! I will update and let you know what I decided to purchase! Have a GREAT weekend everyone!

PEACE!
